What is GPS And how does it work?: Hello friends – You must have heard about GPS, and if you are a smartphone user, then you must be using GPS as well.
It is a technology through which we can find someone’s location. And in today’s post, we will learn about GPS, what GPS is, what the full form of GPS is, and how GPS works.

What is the full form of GPS?
GPS stands for Global Positioning System. And this system is nowadays present in every smartphone.
Anyone can use it very easily, and it is mostly used to find directions.
What is GPS?
GPS (Global Positioning System) works through satellites, it is a satellite-based radio navigation system.
The first time this technology was used was by the United States military. GPS is also known as Navigation Satellite Timing and Ranging (NAVSTAR).
History of GPS
GPS started during the Cold War, when the world was divided into two parts: one was the United States and the other was the Soviet Union.
At the same time, in 1973, GPS was launched by the United States Department of Defense.
How GPS Works
GPS is a network of about 30 satellites that are deployed roughly 20,000 kilometers above the Earth’s surface.
These satellites continuously transmit signals containing their position and current time after a set period.
A GPS receiver combines transmissions from multiple satellites and uses a triangulation process through 3 satellites to determine the correct location, but for more accurate location, connection with 4 satellites is better.
GPS was originally used by the US Army for navigation. But over time, technology has evolved,
and today, anyone can receive radio signals through a smartphone or GPS device.
Types of GPS
Mobile GPS mainly comes in two types: assisted GPS and simultaneous GPS.
1. Assisted GPS
It helps the receiver by boosting a weak signal and locking the assistant GPS position.
2. Simultaneous GPS
This type of GPS is used to improve a network carrier’s satellite reporting.
Through simultaneous GPS, network providers can offer location services, because GPS and voice data are received by the mobile at the same time.
Use GPS
It is very easy to use because nowadays almost every smartphone has GPS. For this, you need to go to your smartphone and turn on GPS.
You can use it through Google Maps and many other apps. GPS is mainly used for location tracking, navigation, timing, and tracking.
